Stories of Innocence

Stolen time. Hidden voices.

Real stories of innocence and wrongful convictions.

Does our criminal justice system make mistakes?  Do innocent people get sent to prison?

Indeed, as the stories in this booklet testify, it happens…even in the Sunflower State.

The problem is real enough that the 2018 Legislature passed, and Governor Colyer signed, a bill that provides compensation to persons who were wrongfully convicted and then released.

The voices of people who have been wrongfully convicted had years of their lives stolen from them, provide a unique perspective on the question of the death penalty.

Learn from their personal experience.
