Don't miss the Buhler Regional Abolition Conference!

October 31, 2014

Buhler Conference Flyer

You are invited to our Regional Abolition Conference in Buhler.

Come listen to the story of Syl and Vicki Schieber, murder victim family members whose daughter, Shannon, was brutally raped and murdered in 1998. Syl and Vicki have been vocal in their opposition to the death penalty both before and after their daughter’s murder. And they used their voice to fight to keep the death penalty from being applied to Shannon’s killer.  The Schieber’s story presents the abolition debate from a unique perspective of forgiveness. Following the key note by Syl and Vicki Schieber, we will hold two Breakout Sessions.

Breakout Session 1: Rep. Steven Becker, Facilitator – As a retired judge with ample legal practice experience, Rep. Becker will share his perspective on the effects of the death penalty in the state of Kansas.

Breakout Session 1: Jeff Wicks, Facilitator – Public Defender from Kansas Death Penalty Defense Team, Jeff s also a board member of KCADP and will speak based on his experience of defending capital punishment cases in Kansas.

Closing remarks will be by Rep. Steven Becker, followed by reflections from the audience.

You won’t want to miss this conference! Please feel free to contact us with any questions!
