Join us at the 2025 Kansas Coalition Against the Death Penalty Conference! This year we will reflect and learn together under the theme of Repeal to Heal: Death Penalty Repeal Advances the Culture of Life.
The decision to sentence someone to death is a statement that the defendant’s life is disposable. It is a societal judgment that more violence is the answer to the act of homicide. So instead of stopping the cycle of violence and asking how can there be acountability and healing, we replicate the original act. More pain and trauma result. People are increasingly exploring how the death penalty harms a culture of life. This conference will offer an opportunity to explore this theme further through the lenses of faith and politics.
This theme will be explored by our three distinguished panelists:
- Krisanne Vaillancourt Murphy, Executive Director of the Catholic Mobilizing Network;
- Nan Tolson, Director of Texas Conservatives Concerned About the Death Penalty;
- Kansas State Representative Bill Sutton, District 43.
The conference will be Saturday November 22nd from 1:00 to 3:30 p.m.
The location is the Hudson Auditorium, located on the second floor of the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art on the Johnson County Community College Campus. JCCC is located at 12345 College Boulevard in Overland Park.
