KCADP members have been very active so far this legislative session.
Kansas Abolition Day, which was January 30th, was a huge success! More than 200 Kansans called Governor Brownback and asked him to make abolition of the death penalty a priority. That same day, two Topeka-area faith leaders hand delivered a letter to the Governor calling on him to support abolition. The letter was signed by 40 faith leaders from across the state!
Since then, KCADP has also been busy discussing the death penalty with people across the state. KCADP speakers led discussions at two events in Salina, gave a presentation to a church in Overland Park, and attended a film screening about the issue of innocence in Wichita.
Please help us keep this momentum going through the rest of the legislative session!
If you haven’t done so already, please contact your legislator and ask him/her to support death penalty repeal. There are currently two bills in the legislature that would repeal the death penalty and replace it with life without the possibility of parole.

Your voice is essential to ending the Kansas death penalty! Your legislator needs to hear from you that ending the Kansas death penalty is an important issue that should be a top priority this legislative session!
You can also help keep this momentum going by telling us about events and speaking opportunities in your area. If there is an event in your community that KCADP should attend, please let us know by calling 785-235-2237 or emailing us at info@ksabolition.org.
